Economic Outlook 2023
What can we expect of the world economy in the years to come?
The answer to this question is what made a hundred participants of the Chamber, the Benelux Business Club, Deloitte and BNP Paribas meet bright and early on Friday morning the 27th of February. The attraction was the Economic Outlook conference, which was housed by Deloitte in the heart of Copenhagen.
Upon their arrival the many participants had time to do a bit of networking over a cup of coffee and a light breakfast ahead of the presentations.
After being welcomed, by the Nordic CEO of Deloitte, Anders Dons, who humorously warned the audience that when it comes to the future of the economy “your guess is as good as mine”, the keynote speaker of the conference, William de Vijlder took to the stage.
The Group Chief Economist at BNP Paribas, who was finally able to join us in person after years of lockdown and zoom calls, came to share his thoughts on the economic future of Europe and the World.
As W. de Vijlder thoroughly guided the attendees through the many parameters of the world economy, he left no stone unturned and presented many interesting points. Of them, one of the main take-aways was that we should hold our breath through 2023 while the world economy heals after a hefty year 2022, and patiently wait for much brighter 2024.

Ahead of the conference, 30 VIP members of the Danish French Chamber of Commerce met Thursday night for a dinner at Restaurant À Terre in Copenhagen. Here the guests enjoyed a delicious many-course meal and got to know each other across sectors and countries before the main attraction Friday morning.
