Gala dinner 2019: Celebration of Tour de France and the Grand Départ in 2021
In July 2021 Copenhagen and Denmark will host the Grand Départ of Tour de France. Therefore, Christian Prudhomme, the director of Tour de France, was invited as the guest of honor at this years’ gala.
The Chamber was lucky to have – besides our members and sponsors – several prominent French and Danish guests, amongst other politicians, journalists, and directors.
Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the former prime minister of Denmark, gave a warm introduction of Christian Prudhomme and explained how a common passion can lead to a friendship as it has done with him self and Christian Prudhomme.
Following this introduction, Dennis Ritter interviewed Christian Prudhomme who gave a passionate and personal speech about Tour de France. Christian Prudhomme explained how the Grand Départ in Denmark will be a unique event for both Denmark and for Tour de France, which has never had a Grand Départ this far away from France.
After this gala, we are looking even more forward to the Grand Départ in 2021!
Export prizes
This year the export prize was presented by Caroline Ferrari, the French Ambassador to Denmark. One prize was awarded to the French company Vinci Grands Projets following their great success in Denmark in recent years. Vinci Construction Grands Projets was represented by Sébastien Bliaut (Director for Northern Europe) who on behalf of Vinci gave a speech of thanks.
The Danish company awarded this year was DSV for their impressing results and continuous growth in France. DSV was represented by Jens Bjørn Andersen, CEO, this evening. Congratulations to DSV!
Charity auction for Team Rynkeby
At the end of the dinner a charity auction for Team Rynkeby was organized. Team Rynkeby is a European nonprofit charity organisation with ‘civil riders’ from all European countries cycling to Paris. In 2018, Team Rynkeby comprised 1.900 cyclists. In total, the 48 teams donated 9.4 million EUR to help children with critical illnesses.
A dozen of lots offered by our members (Simone Perele, l’Education Nationale, Letz Shop, Pernod Ricard, Brøndby IF, Sephora ou Les Grands Chais de France) as well as a Yellow Jersey, signed by Egan Bernal, and a night at the French Embassy helped us raise around 27.000 dkk.
The evening ended with music and dance.
A warm thanks to all guests and especially our two main sponsors who made this evening possible: Legrand and Renault.
Thank you to Valrhona for the chocolate that was served with the coffee.
